Adult rhabdomyoma: A challenging diagnosis on cytology

CytoJournal: Letter to the Editor

Abberly Lott Limbach, Abha Goyal

CytoJournal 2012 9(1):20-20

I can honestly say that, to the best of my knowledge, I have never seen an adult rhabdomyoma on FNA. However, I greatly appreciate the authors sharing this case as a Letter to the Editor.

This letter provides a nice reminder of the differential diagnostic considerations of FNA’s of the head and neck region.  The authors provide a brief description of the findings in this example, and other diagnostic considerations, such as paraganglioma and granular cell tumor. There is a limited discussion of immunohistochemistry as well as a brief reference list.

This is a case to read, and file away for the next time you need to evaluate an FNA in this region.
